Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.
However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to create a third set.
Moutet rescued four initial break points in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
